THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions, as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate and estate administration as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year she assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
