Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond her legal practice as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce, custody, child support and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
