Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
